About ITD Secure

ITD Secure is Kris Hill. He surveys the property, specifies the system, fits it, and comes back to service it — the same person on every visit. The business is based in Bearsted and works across Kent, for homes and for businesses, on burglar alarms and CCTV. We are fully insured, and our Google rating is 5.0.

The short answer

ITD Secure is an independent alarm and CCTV company based in Bearsted, Kent, run by Kris Hill. He spent thirty years in policing before starting it, most of the last decade in covert and surveillance roles. That is what a survey here is built on: how a building would actually be approached and got into. We fit Pyronix and Ajax alarms and Hikvision and Serage cameras for homes and businesses across Kent, and we service systems fitted by other people.

Thirty years before this

Kris spent thirty years in policing before ITD Secure. Twenty of them were as a front-line detective on serious and complex investigations, and most of the last decade was covert and surveillance work — running teams, deploying tactics, and managing risk on major investigations.

That is not on this page as a badge. It matters for one practical reason, and it is the reason this business works the way it does.

Thirty years of looking at buildings from the point of view of somebody intending to get into them changes what you notice when you walk round one. Where the approach is. Which window is not overlooked. Which door is the real one. What somebody would do if the first attempt did not work.

What that changes about a survey

Most alarm quotes start from a package and work backwards — so many sensors, so many doors, a price. A survey here starts at the pavement and works inwards.

In practice that is the alley behind a terrace, the driveway no window overlooks, the flat roof under a bathroom window, the side return nobody can see from the road, the conservatory door treated as an afterthought. A detector in the wrong place gives you a feeling of security rather than security. Zoned and positioned properly, the system ends the attempt instead of recording it.

It also means we will sometimes tell you that you need less than you asked for. There is no contact on the bi-folds if the PIR already covers that room — it adds cost and nothing else. We would rather say that than sell you the sensor.

Who we look after

We fit and maintain the security systems at The Butcher of Brogdale, adding sites as the business has grown across Kent. Coffee Corner in Sturry and at Westwood Cross, Glossed Clinic, Peekaboo Playhouse and Café and Contemporary Flowers are ours too, for alarms and CCTV.

Alongside that is a long list of houses across Maidstone, Medway, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Kings Hill, Canterbury and Ashford that we do not name, because most people would rather we did not.

What we fit, and why

Pyronix and Ajax intruder alarms. Ajax where photo verification is wanted — a property targeted before, or one standing empty for spells — or where the building is large or spread out enough to need the radio range, with outbuildings, stables or a long drive. Pyronix for a standard house footprint with neither of those requirements. It is a choice about the property, not a budget ladder.

Common questions

Who actually turns up?

Kris. He does the survey, writes the specification, carries out the installation and comes back for the servicing. You are not handed to a booking line and you do not get a different engineer each time.

Do you only cover Maidstone?

No. Bearsted is the base, and Maidstone is the busiest area, but we work across Kent — Medway, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Kings Hill, Canterbury, Ashford and the villages around all of them.

Will you look at a system somebody else fitted?

Yes, whoever fitted it. Plenty only need a fault clearing, a battery, or a sensor realigning, and if that is all yours needs we will say so and sort it. What we can maintain long term depends on the panel — we support a small number of manufacturers properly rather than every brand badly, because that is what lets us fix a fault on the visit instead of ordering in and waiting.

Do you do fire alarms?

No. We fit intruder alarms and CCTV, and we would rather point you to someone who does fire properly than take on work that is not ours.

Do you monitor alarms?

App alerts to every linked phone come as standard. Monitoring through an alarm receiving centre, with a keyholder response, is an option where the property or the insurer calls for it.
