Burglar Alarms in Maidstone

Burglar alarms and intruder alarms in Maidstone, specified property by property.

We are an independent security firm based in Bearsted, four miles out, and Maidstone is where most of our alarm work happens. We design and fit Pyronix systems for houses, shops and commercial premises right across the town and its villages. Burglar alarm, intruder alarm, the same system underneath. Only the sizing and the grade change, set by the property and by what your insurer needs. Everything is designed around the way your property is actually reached and entered, rather than chosen from a package. That is the difference between an alarm that ends an attempt and one that only reports it.

Our Google rating sits at 5.0. That is the part we would rather be judged on.

Kris Hill of ITD Secure fitting and aligning a CCTV camera on the brickwork of a Kent property

The person who turns up

There is no call centre and no subcontracted engineer. Kris Hill surveys the property, decides the specification, installs it and returns to service it, and it is the same person on every visit. Thirty years in law enforcement and covert security came before ITD Secure. Every Maidstone alarm we fit is designed around the property in front of us, not picked off a list.

The short answer

A wireless Pyronix alarm for a typical Maidstone home is fitted in a day, covers the entry points and the main circulation space, and is controlled from your phone. Larger or rural properties out towards Boxley, Detling and Hollingbourne usually need perimeter and outbuilding detection as well. Tell us what you have and we will give you a realistic estimate the same day by phone or WhatsApp; the fixed written quote follows a free survey. We work across Maidstone from our base in Bearsted. Call us on 07508 384864 to get booked in, or send a WhatsApp if that suits you better.

Burglar and intruder alarms across Maidstone, from Bearsted to Loose

Maidstone is the county town of Kent and one of our busiest areas, partly because it holds so many different kinds of property in a small radius. There are the Victorian terraces along the Loose Road and Tonbridge Road corridors, the 1930s and post-war semis spreading through Shepway, Park Wood and Senacre, the newer estates at Grove Green, Vinters Park and Allington, and the larger detached and rural homes out towards Bearsted, Boxley, Detling and the villages along the M20. Alongside the housing sits a genuinely busy commercial town, the high street and Fremlin Walk retail, professional offices, and the light-industrial units on the Parkwood and Aylesford estates. Each of those needs a different alarm. A town-centre terrace usually wants a simple, well-zoned system that is quick to arm on the way out, while a rural property near Hollingbourne needs perimeter detection across a driveway, outbuildings and a separate barn.

Maidstone is not a high-crime town by national standards, its overall crime rate sits a little below the England average, but burglary and theft have not gone away. Recent police figures record on the order of two to three residential burglaries per thousand homes a year across the district, and the Parkwood area alone logged 58 reported crimes within half a mile of the industrial estate in a single month of late 2025. The pattern matters more than the headline number: opportunist break-ins on suburban driveways, outbuilding and equipment theft out in the villages, and out-of-hours entry on the commercial estates. You can check the picture for your own street on the police.uk crime map or on CrimeRate.

We know the Maidstone stock and we design around the property in front of us. The number of sensors, where they sit, the zoning, and whether the system is monitored, are all chosen for that home or unit, not lifted from a standard quote.

If you want the longer reasoning behind those decisions, we have written up how we decide which alarm suits a property.

Areas We Cover in Maidstone

We also install burglar and intruder alarms across neighbouring Kings Hill and out toward Sittingbourne, covering the towns and villages in between.

The survey and the quote cost nothing. Ring 07508 384864, or message us on WhatsApp. Protecting a business rather than a home? Ask about our commercial intruder alarm solutions at the same time.

A real Maidstone job

A family home in one of the villages on the North Downs above Maidstone was broken into overnight through an outbuilding. High-value vehicles and tools were kept inside, and whoever came knew what they were after. They forced the door, worked in the dark for a good part of the night out of sight of both the house and the lane, and were gone before morning. Beyond the loss itself the disruption was enormous — the sense of having been watched and picked out, the insurance process, and the plain fact that the one place they thought was secure had been the way in.

Rural properties like this are a specific problem. The machinery, tools and vehicles are valuable and easily moved, the outbuildings sit away from the house, and offenders will scout the lanes in daylight before coming back at night. A standard alarm on the house alone would never have covered it.

We surveyed the whole plot the way the offenders had read it — the unlit approach, the blind side of the outbuilding, the gap in the boundary. We fitted a Pyronix wireless intruder alarm across the house and the outbuildings, with door contacts and dual-technology detection inside, external detection covering the approach, and Hikvision CCTV positioned to hold a face and a number plate in near darkness. Everything alerts to the owners’ phones the moment it is triggered, with monitored response available, so an attempt now gets a reaction while it is happening rather than a discovery the next morning.

The system was designed around how rural crime actually works, and a property that was once an easy overnight target is now one an offender would clock and walk straight past.

From our first contact with Kris Hill it was plain sailing. Initially contact was made to solve a problem related to our an old alarm system. Kris, promised to try and solve the issue - we were going away on a short break and, without his help, this would have left us unprotected. Within 24 hours Kris had established that our old system was obsolete and had completely installed a new one! All this on a Bank Holiday. Superb service!!

Have to say the service so far has been exemplary from Kris and ITD. We had an issue with our home alarm when we were out of the UK but Kris was fantastic at advising us on our system, even though he couldn’t access it. He has since been around and serviced the system and all is running smoothly. It’s very comforting to know that we are in the hands of a very capable firm going forwards.

What a great company. Kris had seen the issues we have faced multiple times and his advice and guidance was spot on. We were getting broken into at the back of the house in Rochester, due to access through a shared alley. Kris knew exactly what system we needed and has set this up so that anyone who ignores the cctv hears a verbal warning. It’s already worked and as this is automated we feel so much safer. The quality of the footage has already been complemented by local police officers. We highly recommend ITD Secure. Top Job.

The whole fittting and after care service is absolutely fantastic, and would highly recommend thank you!

Burglar alarms on semi detached house in Bearsted, Maidstone installed by ITD Secure

Why Maidstone homes and businesses need an alarm

The risk profile across Maidstone is mixed, which is why a single standard alarm rarely fits. In the suburban streets through Shepway, Park Wood and Allington the common issues are opportunist burglary and vehicle crime on driveways, where a monitored, well-zoned alarm both deters and alerts before someone is even inside.

Out in the villages around Boxley, Detling, Thurnham and Hollingbourne the problem is more often outbuildings, equipment, fuel and machinery left out of sight, which is where perimeter and external detection earns its place. In the town centre and on the Parkwood and Aylesford estates it is commercial break-ins, stock theft and out-of-hours entry, where insurers increasingly expect a graded, professionally maintained intruder alarm.

An alarm protects only what it actually covers, at the moment that counts, which across Maidstone is nearly always overnight in an empty property. Getting the zoning, the detector type and the response right for each of those situations is the whole job.

Award Winning Pyronix Systems

Pyronix is British-made and a former Security Manufacturer of the Year. We fit it on Maidstone properties because it is reliable and well built, not because it is cheap. It is the same platform we put on commercial sites, and we see no reason to fit a lesser one on a house.

Proven Criminal Deterrent

Most break-ins are opportunist. A visible, professionally fitted alarm at a Maidstone property often ends the attempt before it starts, which is why the external sounder and the signage go where they are seen on the approach.

Graded to Your Insurer’s Requirement

Homes, shops and industrial units carry different insurance demands. We specify to the grade your insurer has genuinely asked for, so the system performs on the night and stands up afterwards when you claim.

Maidstone Based, Not a Call Centre

We are based here in ME14, so a survey or a callout is a local visit, usually the same week. We know the difference between a Loose Road terrace, a Grove Green new-build and a unit out on Parkwood, and we spec the system to it.

Protection for Staff, Stock and Premises

On commercial sites around Parkwood, Aylesford and the town centre, a graded intruder alarm protects people, stock and the building, and supports your duty of care and insurance, with monitored response where you need it.

Arm and Monitor From Your Phone

Every system is configured for the Pyronix HomeControl+ app, with setting and unsetting, live status and instant alerts. For a rural home or a business left empty overnight, you know the moment something is triggered.

Advice from someone who understands how break-ins happen

These systems work because they are designed around the offender, not around a catalogue. That perspective comes from genuine experience.

Kris Hill, ITD Secure

Owner and lead installer

Most installers can explain how a system works. Kris can explain how somebody gets in. Thirty years in law enforcement and security, most of it in Kent, trains you to read a building the way a burglar reads it. In Maidstone that regularly means the alley behind a Loose Road terrace, the driveway that no window overlooks, and the conservatory door treated as an afterthought. A sensor in the wrong place gives a false sense of security. Zoned and positioned properly, it ends the matter.

Formal certification is not mandatory in security installation, so it is worth finding someone you can trust. What we can show is on the record: full public liability insurance, a 5.0 Google rating from customers in and around Maidstone, and an installer who arrives, explains the plan before quoting, and stands behind the job.

A free survey, and a written price after it. We are on 07508 384864, or WhatsApp if you prefer. Ask how a monitored alarm works alongside your Maidstone CCTV.

How much does a burglar or intruder alarm in Maidstone cost?

Quoting follows the free survey, because the right answer depends on the property and on what your insurer asks of it. You get a fixed written price before any work begins, and we never charge for a result we cannot deliver. The main things that move the cost are:

  • Number of zones and sensors. Set by the doors, windows and rooms that actually need cover, not by a package size.
  • Wireless or wired. Most Maidstone houses take wireless, fitted in a day with no floors lifted; wired earns its place on new builds and renovations.
  • Security grade. Most homes and shops here sit at Grade 2. Grade 3 comes in on higher-risk premises or where an insurer asks for it.
  • Monitoring. App alerts on their own, or ARC monitoring with a keyholder response.
  • Pet-friendly detection. Pet-tolerant detection so the dog or cat does not trigger it.

What a typical Maidstone system looks like

A three-bedroom semi with an open-plan kitchen-diner and bi-folds at the back is about as common as Maidstone housing gets. Here is what we would normally fit:

  • An external wireless siren on the front, where it is seen from the road
  • A door contact on the front door, so entry starts the timer
  • A PIR in the downstairs hall, covering movement between the front rooms
  • A PIR covering the open-plan room at the back
  • A PIR on the landing, covering every room upstairs
  • Panel, siren and keypad under the stairs
  • Two fobs, and app access for everyone in the house

Note what is not on that list. There is no contact on the bi-folds. The PIR already covers that room, and anyone coming through those doors walks straight into it, so a contact there adds cost and nothing else. We would rather tell you that than sell you the sensor.

The survey and the quote cost nothing. Contact us on 07508 384864, or drop us a WhatsApp. We also service and maintain alarms already fitted in homes and businesses across Maidstone.

How a burglar and intruder alarm installation works with us

Every Maidstone installation follows the same sequence, because shortcuts are where weak systems come from:

  • Free survey. Kris walks the property, finds the real weak points, and agrees exactly what each zone needs to cover.
  • System design. Detector count, placement, zoning, grade and monitoring are specified for your property, with a fixed written quote.
  • Clean installation. Wireless where the property suits it, tidy wired runs where it does not, a weatherproof external sounder, and minimal disruption.
  • Configuration. App control, user codes, notifications and any monitored response all set up and tested with you.
  • Aftercare. We show you how to set and use it, leave clear written guidance, and stay on the end of the phone if anything needs adjusting.

An alarm only earns its keep if it still works in year five. If a system is already fitted at your Maidstone property and you are not sure what state it is in, we also handle alarm servicing and repairs across Kent — including an honest verdict on whether an ageing panel is worth keeping.

FAQs

There is no fixed price because no two Maidstone properties are the same. A two-bed terrace off Tonbridge Road and a rural home near Hollingbourne with outbuildings need very different systems. We survey the property, agree exactly what needs covering, and give you a fixed written quote, free and with no obligation attached. Call us on 07508 384864.

Yes, commercial work is a large part of what we do in Maidstone. We fit graded Pyronix intruder alarms across the Parkwood and Aylesford estates and the town-centre retail units, from a single shop to multi-unit sites, and can specify the grade your insurer requires with an optional 24/7 monitored response.

Yes. Pet-tolerant detectors overlook movement below a set height and weight, so a cat or a medium dog wandering downstairs overnight will not trigger anything, and the rest of the house stays fully protected. We set these up for your specific pet and layout as part of the survey.

In most cases, yes. If you have inherited a system or your original installer has disappeared, we can service, repair and take over the maintenance of many existing Pyronix and other alarm systems across Maidstone. If a panel is genuinely obsolete we will tell you honestly rather than patch it.

It depends on the risk and what your insurer specifies. Grade 2 covers most offices, shops and light-industrial units, while Grade 3 is required for higher-risk premises such as warehouses holding valuable stock or cash-handling businesses. We assess this as part of the free survey and recommend the correct grade rather than overselling.

Yes. The panel runs on an internal rechargeable battery the moment the mains goes, so detection continues and both the internal and external sirens sound exactly as they always would. A power cut leaves your protection intact.

The thing you lose is the notification to your phone. That alert travels out over your broadband router, and a cut takes the router down with the rest of the house. It is worth being straight about this, because it is true of every internet-connected alarm sold in the UK, whatever the brand. The dependency lies with home broadband rather than with the alarm.

It is also easily designed around, and we will raise it at the survey rather than leave you to discover it during an outage. A mobile signalling path gives the panel its own route out, independent of your broadband entirely. A small UPS on the router keeps the connection alive through the cut instead. Either closes the gap, and we will tell you honestly which one is worth it for your property.

Yes. When Brook Security closed its Bearsted shop and the business was taken on by Spy Alarms, a lot of Maidstone homeowners were left with a system and no local installer looking after it. We regularly take over and service former Brook Security alarms across Maidstone and the surrounding villages, whether you want it maintained, repaired or upgraded to a current Pyronix system. You can read more on our Brook Security Bearsted alternative page, and our guide to keeping your home alarm serviced and reliable explains why an unmaintained system quietly stops being something you can depend on.

The alarm keeps working exactly as normal — detection, internal sounder and external siren are all unaffected. The only thing you lose is the remote alert to your phone. There is no separate mobile signalling path as standard, but we can add one, and for a property left empty a lot it is usually worth it.

By default, you do. The moment the system triggers, a notification goes to every phone linked to the alarm, so everyone in the household or the business knows at once and can respond. Beyond that there is an option to have the system monitored by a professional alarm receiving centre, at additional cost, so a trained operator is handling it whether or not you have seen your phone.

They work considerably better together. If the alarm triggers while you are out, CCTV lets you look at the property there and then and see whether it is a genuine intruder or a false activation. That one check saves needless call-outs and needless drives home, and tells you whether this is a police matter before you act.

A wireless system in a typical Maidstone home is a one-day job. We would not expect it to run into a second day. Wired installations in new builds, renovations or commercial premises take longer, and we will tell you exactly what to expect before any work starts.

Yes, please. Most of the planning happens indoors — where the signal is strongest, which rooms need motion detection, which doors need contacts. Outside, we are really only deciding where the external siren goes. We can give you a rough idea from an external look and a conversation, but nothing you could hold us to.
