CCTV Installation in Maidstone
Looking for CCTV installation in Maidstone?
ITD Secure is an independent, Maidstone based security firm and an approved Serage installer, fitting and configuring Hikvision and Serage CCTV systems across the town and its surrounding villages. We design every system around how a property is actually approached and entered, not a one size camera package, which is the difference between footage that identifies someone and footage that does not. With a 5.0 star rating from our Google reviews, we let the work speak for itself.
Author - Kris Hill, Owner and lead installer

The person who turns up
We are not a call centre with a local number. Kris Hill walks the property, specifies the system, fits it, and comes back to service it — the same person each time.
Thirty years in law enforcement and covert security before ITD Secure. Every Maidstone camera position is decided on site, looking at the live picture, because that is what decides whether the footage is worth anything.
CCTV installation across Maidstone, from Bearsted to Loose
Maidstone is the county town of Kent and one of our busiest areas, partly because it covers so many different kinds of property. There are the Victorian terraces along the Loose Road and Tonbridge Road corridors, the 1930s and post-war semis spreading through Shepway, Park Wood and Senacre, the newer estates at Grove Green, Vinters Park and Allington, and then the larger detached and rural homes out towards Bearsted, Boxley, Detling and the villages along the M20. Each needs a different approach. A town-centre terrace usually wants discreet coverage of a single entrance and a shared alley, while a rural property near Hollingbourne might need to watch a long driveway, outbuildings and a separate barn or stable block.
We know the Maidstone housing stock and we design around the property in front of us. The number of cameras, where they sit, the lens and the lighting are all chosen for that home or unit, not lifted from a standard quote.

A real Maidstone job
A rural property at the foot of the downs had been hit twice over one winter, both times through an outbuilding where tools and garden machinery were stored. The owner had a cheap kit from a DIY store, but the cameras were 1080p, faced into the dark and the footage was useless past a few metres. We surveyed the approach the way someone breaking in would read it, the unlit gate, the blind side of the barn, the gap in the hedge line.
We fitted Hikvision ColorVu cameras that hold full colour in near darkness across the driveway and both outbuildings, set up motion alerts to the owner’s phone, and recorded locally to an NVR so nothing depends on the broadband staying up. The next attempt, a few weeks later, was caught clearly enough for the police to act on and the alerts gave the owner time to put the floodlights on from indoors.

Have to say the service so far has been exemplary from Kris and ITD. We had an issue with our home alarm when we were out of the UK but Kris was fantastic at advising us on our system, even though he couldn’t access it. He has since been around and serviced the system and all is running smoothly. It’s very comforting to know that we are in the hands of a very capable firm going forwards.Posted on Google![]()

What a great company. Kris had seen the issues we have faced multiple times and his advice and guidance was spot on. We were getting broken into at the back of the house in Rochester, due to access through a shared alley. Kris knew exactly what system we needed and has set this up so that anyone who ignores the cctv hears a verbal warning. It’s already worked and as this is automated we feel so much safer. The quality of the footage has already been complemented by local police officers. We highly recommend ITD Secure. Top Job.Posted on Google![]()

Kris fitted our shop alarms and was extremely knowledgable, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, he helped our staff with the mobile set ups and everything was a very smooth and easy process. We recently had an incident where we needed some images from the cameras and Kris had it sent over almost immediately! The whole fittting and after care service is absolutely fantastic, and would highly recommend thank you!Posted on Google![]()

From our first contact with Kris Hill it was plain sailing. Initially contact was made to solve a problem related to our an old alarm system. Kris, promised to try and solve the issue - we were going away on a short break and, without his help, this would have left us unprotected. Within 24 hours Kris had established that our old system was obsolete and had completely installed a new one! All this on a Bank Holiday. Superb service!!Posted on Google![]()

My company recently had Kris from ITD install our alarm and camera system at our commercial unit. I really cannot recommend him enough. From start to finish I was very impressed. From first contact the service provided and his attention to detail was superb. The new system was explained and he ensured our needs and requirements were met. I would most definitely recommend their services and wouldn’t hesitate to use them for future projects.Posted on Google![]()

Great experience from start to finish. Kris was brilliant; really consultative, took the time to understand what I needed, and explained everything clearly. The system’s been spot on and having it in place has been a real reassurance. I feel much safer. What’s stood out most is the support after install. Kris is on hand if anything comes up. Couldn’t recommend him more!!! 🙌Posted on Google![]()

Why Maidstone properties need CCTV
The risk profile across Maidstone is mixed, which is why a single standard package rarely fits. In the suburban streets through Shepway, Park Wood and Allington the common issues are opportunist burglary and vehicle crime on driveways, where a clear, well-placed camera both deters and identifies. Out in the villages around Boxley, Detling, Thurnham and Hollingbourne the problem is more often outbuildings, equipment, fuel and rural property left out of sight, sometimes targeted by people who have scouted the lanes in daylight. In the town centre and on the Parkwood and Aylesford industrial estates it is commercial break-ins, loading-bay theft, fly-tipping and vandalism out of hours.
A camera only protects what it can actually see in the conditions that matter, which is usually at night and at a distance. Getting the position, lens and low-light performance right for each of those situations is the whole job.
Common problems we solve in Maidstone
- Outbuilding, tool and equipment theft on rural properties around the villages
- Vehicle crime and number-plate capture on suburban driveways
- Out-of-hours break-ins and vandalism on the industrial estates
- Fly-tipping on rural lanes and at commercial yards
- Coverage of long driveways, gates and separate buildings on larger plots
- Remote monitoring of empty or second properties while owners are away
Award Winning Systems
We fit Hikvision, the manufacturer named Security Manufacturer of the Year, chosen for build quality and low-light performance rather than whatever is cheapest. The same kit that protects commercial sites is what we put on Maidstone homes.
Visible Deterrent to Crime
Most break-ins are opportunist. A camera an offender notices on the way up the drive frequently ends the matter before it begins, so we position for visibility at the approach rather than coverage after the fact.
Footage that actually identifies someone
Evidence only helps if it names a person or a plate. Our Hikvision ColorVu cameras hold full colour in near darkness, so a number plate on a driveway or a face at a rural gate stays usable, the kind of clear, time-stamped image Kent Police can act on.
Maidstone Based, Not a Call Centre
We are based here in ME14, so a survey or a callout is a local visit, usually same week. We know the difference between a Loose Road terrace, a Grove Green new-build and a farm out past Thurnham, and we spec the system to the property.
Protection for Staff, Stock and Property
On commercial sites around Parkwood, Aylesford and the town centre, CCTV protects people, stock and the building, and supports your duty of care and insurance. We fit business systems across Kent, with options like number-plate capture for yards and gates.
Watch it From Your Phone, Anywhere
Every system is set up for live viewing through the Hik-Connect app, with motion alerts. For a rural Maidstone property or a second home left empty, that means you see what is happening on the driveway or in the yard the moment it happens.
Advice from someone who understands how break-ins happen
These systems work because the design begins with the offender rather than with a product catalogue. That perspective comes from genuine experience.
Kris, ITD Secure
Founder and Lead Installer
Plenty of CCTV installers can explain how the equipment works. Kris can tell you how a burglar thinks. With over 30 years across the security and law enforcement industries, locally in Kent and nationally, he surveys a property the way an intruder reads it: the unlit approach, the blind side, the entry point that no one watches. A camera in the wrong place gives a false sense of security. A camera in the right place ends the matter.
Formal certification is not mandatory in security installation, so it is worth finding someone you can trust. Our track record is public: fully insured with public liability cover and a 5.0 star rating across our Google reviews from homes and businesses around Maidstone, with engineers who turn up, explain the plan before quoting and stand behind the work.

How much does CCTV installation in Maidstone cost?
Every system is quoted after a free survey, because the right answer depends on the property. We give you a fixed written price before any work starts and never charge for a result we cannot deliver. The main things that move the cost are:
- Number of cameras. Driven by the entry points and blind spots, not a fixed package size.
- Camera type and resolution. Standard, 4K or Hikvision ColorVu for full colour in near darkness, chosen per position.
- Recording and storage. The NVR size sets how many days of footage you keep before it overwrites.
- Cabling and property size. Cable runs across larger or rural plots, and separate outbuildings, add time and materials.
- Remote access setup. Configuring phone viewing, alerts and user accounts.

How a CCTV installation works with us
Every install follows the same process, because shortcuts are where weak systems come from:
- Free survey. We walk the property, find the real weak points and agree exactly what each camera needs to see.
- System design. Camera count, positions, lens choice and low-light type are specified for your property, with a fixed written quote.
- Clean installation. Tidy cable runs, weatherproof fittings and discreet placement, with minimal disruption to the building.
- Configuration. Remote viewing on your phone, motion alerts, recording schedule and user accounts all set up and tested with you.
- Aftercare. We show you how to use it, leave clear guidance, and are on the end of the phone if anything needs adjusting.
CCTV in Maidstone — common questions
Do you install CCTV on rural properties and outbuildings around Maidstone?
Yes, a lot of our Maidstone work is rural. We regularly cover long driveways, gates, barns, stables and detached outbuildings around Boxley, Detling, Thurnham and Hollingbourne, where the targets are usually tools, fuel and machinery left out of sight. These jobs are about covering the unlit approach and the blind side of the building, which is what the survey is for.
Will I need consent for external CCTV on a period or listed property in Maidstone?
Most domestic CCTV needs no planning permission, but Maidstone has several conservation areas and many listed buildings, in the town centre and the older villages, where external fixings can need consent. We fit discreet systems on period properties across the area and flag anything that needs checking with Maidstone Borough Council before we drill a hole.
Can you cover a business unit on the Parkwood or Aylesford estates?
Yes, we do a lot of commercial CCTV on the Maidstone industrial estates, where the issues are out-of-hours break-ins, loading-bay theft and fly-tipping. Business systems also carry footage retention responsibilities under the ICO, which we set up correctly so you stay compliant.
How many cameras does a Maidstone property actually need?
It is about entry points and blind spots, not a fixed number. A typical Maidstone semi is usually well covered by three or four well-placed cameras, one on the approach and one on each vulnerable entrance. A rural property with outbuildings, a long driveway and dark field boundaries needs more, because the job is watching the approach, not just the door.
Will the cameras actually see anything on an unlit driveway at night?
That is the right question, because most disappointing CCTV is disappointing after dark. Standard infrared gives a usable but monochrome picture. ColorVu cameras hold full colour in very low light, which is what turns “someone in dark clothing” into a description worth having. Which type belongs where depends on the lighting already on site.
Is footage from my system actually usable by the police?
That depends almost entirely on camera placement and image quality. I spent thirty years in law enforcement and covert security before setting up ITD Secure, and it changes how I specify a system. Footage showing that something happened is easy. Footage that identifies a face or a number plate, at the distance and light level that matters, is a design decision made before anything is fitted.
My CCTV has stopped recording — can you repair it?
Often, yes. The common causes are a failed hard drive in the recorder, a power supply that has dropped below what the cameras need, a cable damaged where it passes through a wall or soffit, or a recorder that filled up and stopped overwriting. All four are repairable without replacing the cameras. Tell us the make of the recorder and what the screen shows.
Can you look at a CCTV system another company installed?
Yes, whoever fitted it. Plenty of systems only need a fault clearing, a new power supply or a camera repositioning, and if that is all yours needs we will say so. Where equipment is genuinely at the end of its working life we will tell you that too, and set out what replacing it would involve.
Can I view my Maidstone cameras from my phone?
Yes. Every system we fit is set up for remote viewing on a phone or tablet before we leave, and we show you how to use it rather than handing you a login and hoping. You can check live cameras, play back recorded footage, and export a clip if you ever need to hand something over.
How long does a CCTV installation take?
Most domestic systems in Maidstone are a single day, including cable runs, configuration and showing you how everything works. Larger or rural properties with outbuildings and long cable routes can run into a second day. We will tell you which at the survey rather than discovering it on the day.
Which parts of Maidstone do you cover?
All of it, and the villages around it — Bearsted, Loose, Shepway, Park Wood, Senacre, Grove Green, Vinters Park, Allington, Barming, Boxley, Detling, Thurnham and Hollingbourne among them. We are based at Bearsted, so Maidstone is the area we reach fastest and the one we work in most.
