Commercial Security
Your Team Deserves to Feel Safe at Work
The Real Cost of Being Vulnerable
Business crime isn't just about stolen stock or damaged property, it's about the employee who now dreads opening up alone in the morning, the team member who refuses late shifts, and the atmosphere of unease that settles over your workplace after an incident. Every break in costs UK businesses an average of £3,000 in immediate losses, but the hidden costs run deeper: insurance premiums that spiral, productivity lost while you're dealing with police and repairs, and good staff who leave because they no longer feel secure. When your people don't feel protected, your entire business suffers.
Intelligent Systems That Work Around the Clock
Our commercial security solutions combine professional grade CCTV with smart alarm systems that monitor every entry point, every movement, every moment your premises is unattended. Staff arriving early get instant verification that the building is secure. You receive real time alerts if anyone attempts unauthorized access. High definition footage provides concrete evidence that actually leads to convictions and insurance claims that get paid. Whether you're managing a retail unit in Maidstone, a warehouse in Ashford, or offices across multiple sites, you stay connected and in control through one simple app on your phone.
Building a Business People Want to Work For
This is about more than protecting assets, it's about being the kind of employer who takes staff safety seriously. It's about not lying awake worrying whether you remembered to set the alarm. It's the confidence to expand, stay open later, or leave your deputy to lock up, knowing they're backed by systems that respond faster than any security guard. When your team sees cameras covering the car park and knows the building is monitored 24/7, they don't just feel safer—they feel valued. And when crime does strike elsewhere in your area, you're not the easy target. You're the business that's still trading, still thriving, still looking after its people.
Business security from ITD Secure, in short
ITD Secure installs and maintains intruder alarms, CCTV and panic alarms for businesses across Kent — retail units, offices, workshops, yards and construction sites — from a base in Bearsted near Maidstone. Every system is surveyed in person by Kris Hill, a former police officer with more than thirty years in law enforcement and covert security, and built to the grade your insurer has asked for. You get an honest estimate the same day and a fixed written quote after the survey.
Alarm and CCTV on one app, so whoever opens up can see the building is secure before they put a key in the door. Set and unset by individual user, so the log shows which code opened the unit and when. Alerts reach every phone you choose the moment something triggers, and you can look at the cameras yourself before deciding whether it needs a call-out or it was a delivery driver at six in the morning.
Hikvision and Serage cameras specified around the premises rather than sold as a package — the approach, the loading bay, the stockroom door, the yard. Positions are chosen so a face is identifiable at the point somebody enters, not just a figure crossing a car park. Footage records locally and is viewable on your phone, and we will show you how to export a clip properly the first time you need one.
Wireless Pyronix and Ajax systems, graded to what your insurer has asked for. Ajax where you want photo verification of what set the alarm off, or where the site is spread out enough to need the radio range across units, yards and outbuildings. Pyronix otherwise. The premises decides which, not a price list — and we will confirm in writing what grade the system is, so you have something to send your broker.
Fixed panic buttons under a counter or on a desk, and portable units for staff who work alone, open up early or lock up late. Pressing one raises the alarm without anybody in the room needing to know it has happened. For retail and reception staff facing aggression it is the part of the system that gets used most, and it is usually the smallest part of the job.
Recent commercial work in Kent
A few of the businesses we look after, named here with their permission.

Different trades want different things from a system. A butcher needs the counter, the yard and the delivery side covered. A soft play centre needs something a duty manager can set at the end of a shift without having to think about it. A florist or a clinic is a small unit where one camera in the wrong place is worse than none at all. Every one of these was walked and surveyed in person before anything was quoted.
Systems get serviced annually, whether we fitted them or another company did. We check the panel, the sensors, the batteries and the signalling, and we tell you what we found rather than just handing over a certificate. Documented servicing also gives you the maintenance record most insurers ask to see. If something faults in between, ring us and we will work out over the phone whether it needs a visit.
Where businesses save money, and where it costs them
We would rather talk you out of something than sell it to you. These are the three places a commercial job usually gets cut back, and what tends to happen afterwards.
Too few cameras for the site
The saving is real and so is the gap. Three cameras on a building that needs six normally leaves the approach uncovered, and the approach is where somebody becomes identifiable. Footage showing an incident but nobody recognisable is the version that does not help the police and does not settle the claim. If the budget will not stretch, we would rather fit fewer cameras in the right positions than more cameras spread thin.
Consumer kit on a commercial premises
Off-the-shelf cameras and plug-in alarms are fine in a house. On a business unit with stock, staff and an insurance policy they are the wrong tool. They are not graded, they usually hang off one broadband line and one phone, and there is nobody to ring when they quietly stop recording. It is the difference between a device and a system.
Skipping the servicing
A security system is the one thing on your premises you buy hoping never to use, which is exactly why it goes unchecked. Sensors drift, batteries fail quietly, and recorders fill up and stop writing. The morning you need last night’s footage is a bad morning to find out.
What changes between a home system and a business one
| At home | On a business premises | |
|---|---|---|
| Grading | usually whatever the insurer suggests | usually a grade the insurer specifies in writing |
| Users | a family sharing a code | a code per member of staff, so openings are logged |
| Cameras | approach and ways in | approach, ways in, stock and till areas, anywhere cash or keys are handled |
| Panic | a phone alert for the family | fixed units at counters, portable units for lone workers |
| Out of hours | occasional | routine — opening and closing is when most incidents happen |
| Servicing | annual and sensible | annual, and usually the record your insurer asks to see |

Great friendly and efficient service from Kris and Matt after our router got changed by Virgin leaving us disconnected from alarm alerts. All now newly logged on and connected for future security/alerts. Highly recommended.Posted on Google![]()

Have to say the service so far has been exemplary from Kris and ITD. We had an issue with our home alarm when we were out of the UK but Kris was fantastic at advising us on our system, even though he couldn’t access it. He has since been around and serviced the system and all is running smoothly. It’s very comforting to know that we are in the hands of a very capable firm going forwards.Posted on Google![]()

What a great company. Kris had seen the issues we have faced multiple times and his advice and guidance was spot on. We were getting broken into at the back of the house in Rochester, due to access through a shared alley. Kris knew exactly what system we needed and has set this up so that anyone who ignores the cctv hears a verbal warning. It’s already worked and as this is automated we feel so much safer. The quality of the footage has already been complemented by local police officers. We highly recommend ITD Secure. Top Job.Posted on Google![]()

Kris fitted our shop alarms and was extremely knowledgable, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, he helped our staff with the mobile set ups and everything was a very smooth and easy process. We recently had an incident where we needed some images from the cameras and Kris had it sent over almost immediately! The whole fittting and after care service is absolutely fantastic, and would highly recommend thank you!Posted on Google![]()

From our first contact with Kris Hill it was plain sailing. Initially contact was made to solve a problem related to our an old alarm system. Kris, promised to try and solve the issue - we were going away on a short break and, without his help, this would have left us unprotected. Within 24 hours Kris had established that our old system was obsolete and had completely installed a new one! All this on a Bank Holiday. Superb service!!Posted on Google![]()

My company recently had Kris from ITD install our alarm and camera system at our commercial unit. I really cannot recommend him enough. From start to finish I was very impressed. From first contact the service provided and his attention to detail was superb. The new system was explained and he ensured our needs and requirements were met. I would most definitely recommend their services and wouldn’t hesitate to use them for future projects.Posted on Google![]()

Great experience from start to finish. Kris was brilliant; really consultative, took the time to understand what I needed, and explained everything clearly. The system’s been spot on and having it in place has been a real reassurance. I feel much safer. What’s stood out most is the support after install. Kris is on hand if anything comes up. Couldn’t recommend him more!!! 🙌
Commercial security questions we get asked
Will the system meet what my insurer has asked for?
Tell us what they have specified, in writing if you have it, and we will design to that and confirm the grade of what we fit. We will not tell you what your insurer will accept — that is their decision, not ours — but we will make sure you have the paperwork to send them.
Can I have a different code for each member of staff?
Yes, and on a commercial system you should. Individual user codes mean the log shows who unset the alarm and when. Most people think that is a detail until the first time there is a disagreement about who opened up.
Can it tell me if the unit was unset out of hours?
Yes. You can have an alert when the system is unset outside the hours you expect, so a Sunday morning entry reaches your phone rather than sitting in a log nobody reads until Monday.
Do you cover more than one site?
Yes. Multiple premises sit on one app so you are not switching between systems, and they can be serviced on the same visit cycle.
What about a construction site or a part-built property?
That is work we do ourselves. Early-warning detection for sites and empty properties is designed around how the site is actually approached, and it moves as the build moves.
We already have a system. Will you take it over?
Usually. We will look at any make, whoever fitted it, and give you an honest view on whether it is worth servicing or whether you are propping up something past its life. We only take on long-term maintenance for a small number of manufacturers, and we will tell you that up front rather than after.
What does a commercial system cost?
It depends on the premises, and we would rather give you a realistic bracket than a figure plucked over the phone. Tell us roughly what you have — the size, how many ways in, whether there is a yard — and we will give you an honest bracket the same day. The fixed written quote follows a free survey, with no obligation.
