Burglar Alarms & CCTV in Kent — Don’t Rely on a 999 Response

Local Police face unprecedented demands, prioritising immediate threats over property crime. By the time officers arrive at a break in, it’s already too late. Your home or business simply isn’t high on the list until after you’ve become a victim.

What it costs you

For families, it’s irreplaceable possessions and your children’s sense of safety violated in minutes. For businesses, it’s £3,000+ per incident, lost trading days, frightened staff, and damage to your reputation. The real cost isn’t just what’s stolen, it’s the weeks of anxiety and disruption that follow.

Real Protection, Real Peace of Mind

Our Security Solutions stop criminals before they strike and provide police with evidence they can act on when they do. More importantly, you get instant alerts on your phone, remote monitoring 24/7, and the reassurance that your family or business is protected even when you can’t be there. Because protecting what matters most shouldn’t depend on overstretched emergency services.

Security systems we install and maintain across Kent

Every system is designed by Kris Hill, a former police officer with more than thirty years in law enforcement and covert security, and surveyed in person before anything is quoted. He also holds City & Guilds qualifications in electrical installation, so the wiring side of a job stays in-house. These are the services we provide across Kent:

  • Burglar and intruder alarm installation — wireless Pyronix and Ajax systems, graded to what your insurer expects and run from your phone.
  • CCTV installation — Hikvision and Serage cameras for homes, businesses and yards, specified around the property rather than sold as a package.
  • Alarm servicing and maintenance — annual servicing for our own installations and for systems fitted by another company.
  • Alarm upgrades and existing-system assessment — an honest view on whether a dated panel is worth keeping, upgrading or replacing.
  • Panic alarms — fixed and portable units for homes and businesses.
  • Alarm and CCTV monitoring — keyholder response through an alarm receiving centre, and monitored cameras.
  • Remote monitoring and app alerts — alerts to every linked phone as standard, with ARC monitoring available at extra cost.
  • Commercial security systems — offices, units and retail premises, specified to grade and to your insurance requirements.
  • Construction and site security — early-warning detection for vulnerable sites and part-built properties.

We work across the whole of Kent from our base in Bearsted, near Maidstone, and we carry full public liability insurance. If you are starting from scratch, our guide to home security systems in Kent explains what a complete system costs and what it should include. Tell us what you have and we’ll give you a realistic estimate the same day; the fixed written quote follows a free survey.

Surveyed before it is specified

Every system starts with a walk round the property, looking at how it would actually be approached and entered. That is what decides where sensors and cameras go, rather than a standard package with a number of devices in it.

You are told when it matters

Alerts reach every linked phone the moment something triggers, wherever you are, and you can check the cameras yourself before deciding what to do. ARC monitoring is available on top where a system needs a response arranged for you.

Cover that travels with your family

A phone-based panic alert is included with our home systems at no extra cost, so a family member can raise an alarm and share their live location from anywhere. Fixed and portable panic units are available where a physical button suits better.

Have to say the service so far has been exemplary from Kris and ITD. We had an issue with our home alarm when we were out of the UK but Kris was fantastic at advising us on our system, even though he couldn’t access it. He has since been around and serviced the system and all is running smoothly. It’s very comforting to know that we are in the hands of a very capable firm going forwards.

What a great company. Kris had seen the issues we have faced multiple times and his advice and guidance was spot on. We were getting broken into at the back of the house in Rochester, due to access through a shared alley. Kris knew exactly what system we needed and has set this up so that anyone who ignores the cctv hears a verbal warning. It’s already worked and as this is automated we feel so much safer. The quality of the footage has already been complemented by local police officers. We highly recommend ITD Secure. Top Job.

Kris fitted our shop alarms and was extremely knowledgable, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, he helped our staff with the mobile set ups and everything was a very smooth and easy process. We recently had an incident where we needed some images from the cameras and Kris had it sent over almost immediately! The whole fittting and after care service is absolutely fantastic, and would highly recommend thank you!

From our first contact with Kris Hill it was plain sailing. Initially contact was made to solve a problem related to our an old alarm system. Kris, promised to try and solve the issue - we were going away on a short break and, without his help, this would have left us unprotected. Within 24 hours Kris had established that our old system was obsolete and had completely installed a new one! All this on a Bank Holiday. Superb service!!

My company recently had Kris from ITD install our alarm and camera system at our commercial unit. I really cannot recommend him enough. From start to finish I was very impressed. From first contact the service provided and his attention to detail was superb. The new system was explained and he ensured our needs and requirements were met. I would most definitely recommend their services and wouldn’t hesitate to use them for future projects.

Great experience from start to finish. Kris was brilliant; really consultative, took the time to understand what I needed, and explained everything clearly. The system’s been spot on and having it in place has been a real reassurance. I feel much safer. What’s stood out most is the support after install. Kris is on hand if anything comes up. Couldn’t recommend him more!!! 🙌

FAQ

It depends on the property, and we would rather give you a realistic bracket than a made-up figure. A two-bed mid-terrace and a house with outbuildings and a long drive are different jobs. Tell us roughly what you have, by phone or WhatsApp, and we will give you an honest bracket the same day. The fixed written quote follows a free survey, with no obligation.

Panel standby batteries typically last three to five years, and sensor batteries two to four, though it varies with the system and how often it is set. Most panels warn you before one fails. If yours is showing a battery fault, tell us what the display says and we can usually work out which one it is before we come out.

Yes. As part of our home alarm systems we include a phone-based panic function at no extra cost. Family members install the app, and if the panic button is pressed you can see their live location. We also fit fixed and portable panic units where a physical button makes more sense than a phone.

Most repeat false alarms come down to one of four things: a detector that has drifted or is now seeing a radiator, a pet or a draught; a door or window contact that has worked loose as the frame moved; a sensor battery at the end of its life; or a panel holding a fault it was never cleared of. Tell us which zone it reports and roughly when it happens and we can usually narrow it down before we come out.

There is no fixed number, but there are clear signals. If the panel has no app control, signals over a single path, has no spare parts available, or predates what your insurer now asks for, it is at the end of its useful life whatever condition it looks to be in. Ten to fifteen years old is usually in that bracket. We check age and capability before quoting anything, because it changes the answer completely.

We will come and look at it whoever fitted it, and give you an honest view on whether it is worth keeping. Plenty of systems only need a fault clearing, a battery or a sensor realigning. What we can support long term depends on the panel, because we work closely with a small number of manufacturers rather than carrying parts for every brand — that is what lets us fix things quickly.

Broadly three: bell-only systems that just make noise, monitored systems that alert you or an alarm receiving centre, and app-based systems that do both. We fit Pyronix and Ajax. Ajax where photo verification matters, or the property is large and spread out enough to need the radio range; Pyronix otherwise. The property decides which, not a price list.

Yes. We use high resolution cameras to ensure that the images are exceptional quality in order that should you need to rely on them later they will be excellent for police and other agencies.

Yes. Site and construction security is work we do ourselves — early-warning detection for part-built properties, plant compounds and vulnerable sites, including places with no permanent power or network. The usual losses are tools, plant, materials and fuel, plus fly-tipping out of hours. Tell us the site layout and how long you need cover for and we will work out what it takes.

The sounder runs, and an alert reaches every phone linked to the system straight away. If you have cameras you can look before you decide anything. Most households find that is the useful part: knowing within seconds whether it is a genuine intrusion or a cat, rather than driving home guessing. Where a system reports to an alarm receiving centre, they act on it as well.

For most homes app alerts are enough, because you get the alert instantly and can check the cameras yourself. Monitoring through an alarm receiving centre matters when nobody can respond — an empty property, a business out of hours, or an insurer that requires it. It is an ongoing cost on top, so we will tell you plainly whether your situation actually needs it.

We specify to the grade your insurer asks for, so tell us what your policy says before we survey. Most domestic policies that mention an alarm are asking for a graded system properly installed and serviced, and documented annual servicing gives you the maintenance record they ask to see if you ever claim. If your policy has an unusual requirement we would rather know at the start.

It depends where you are and what the fault is, and we would rather be honest than promise a window we cannot hold. Maidstone and the surrounding villages are fastest because that is where we are based. Where we already look after a system we usually have a head start, since we know what is installed and often what the fault is before setting off.

Start with the ones who will still be there in two years. Almost anybody can fit a system; the difference shows up later, when something needs looking at, or when you go to pull footage in a hurry. Ask who carries out the survey, whether that is the same person who does the installation, and who answers the phone when there is a fault at the weekend. Then read the reviews that name a person rather than a company. We are based in Bearsted, just outside Maidstone, and cover Maidstone, Medway, Tonbridge, Tunbridge Wells, Sittingbourne, Kings Hill, Canterbury, Ashford and the villages around them.

Areas We Cover in Kent

Looking for an alarm or CCTV installer near you?

If you have searched for an alarm company or a CCTV installer near you, and you are anywhere in mid or west Kent, you are almost certainly within half an hour of us. We are based in Bearsted, just outside Maidstone.

For a security system, how near somebody is matters more than it does for most trades — and not for the reason people expect. It is not the drive out to fit it. It is who comes back when the panel starts beeping at eleven at night, or when you go looking for footage after something has happened and find the recorder stopped writing three weeks ago. A national company with a local phone number is not near you. Here, the person who answers the phone is the person who fitted the system.

We do both, and we survey them together. Alarms and CCTV are usually sold as separate trades, and on a real building they are not: it is the same walk round, asking the same two questions — how would somebody get in, and what would you want to be able to prove afterwards.

ITD Secure installs and maintains burglar alarms and CCTV across the whole of Kent, from Dartford in the west to Dover in the east, working from our base in Bearsted near Maidstone. The towns below have their own local pages. If yours isn’t listed we almost certainly still cover it — call 07508 384864 and ask.
