CCTV Installation in Tunbridge Wells

Looking for CCTV installation in Tunbridge Wells?

The town sits at the northern edge of the High Weald, and the security picture is as varied as the property stock: Georgian townhouses near the Pantiles, Victorian villas on the Common edge, Arts and Crafts homes in Rusthall, and Wealden farmhouses in the villages beyond. ITD Secure fits Hikvision CCTV systems across the town and the TN1, TN2, TN3 and TN4 postcodes, designing every system around what the property actually faces.

Fully insured with public liability cover, 5.0 rating from Google reviews.

The person who turns up

We are not a call centre with a local number. Kris Hill walks the property, specifies the system, fits it, and comes back to service it — the same person each time.

Thirty years in law enforcement and covert security before ITD Secure. Every Tunbridge Wells camera position is decided on site, looking at the live picture, because that is what decides whether the footage is worth anything.

From the Pantiles to the High Weald, every property is different

Tunbridge Wells covers more distinct property types than almost anywhere else in Kent. The Georgian and early Victorian terraces around the Pantiles and Calverley Park are among the finest period properties in the South East, with thick walls, generous proportions and a high concentration of listed buildings and conservation area designations.

Moving north through the town, the character shifts to Victorian and Edwardian villas and semis, then to the inter-war detached homes of Broadwater Down and Hawkenbury, and further out to the post-war estates of Sherwood and High Brooms. In Rusthall the stock is predominantly Victorian and Edwardian semi and detached, with Arts and Crafts properties backing onto the Common.

Beyond the town boundary, the High Weald villages tell a different story entirely. Speldhurst, Langton Green, Groombridge, Frant and Bidborough carry Wealden timber-frame cottages, converted oast houses, listed farmhouses and country estates where a standard camera package is simply not the right starting point. Each has a different layout, different outbuildings, different boundary conditions, and a different approach route for someone who does not want to be seen.

We design around the property in front of us. The survey is not a formality before handing over a quote, it is where the job is actually done.

A real Tunbridge Wells job

One of our recent installs, near Speldhurst.

A converted farmhouse in Speldhurst, with a main barn, a detached garage and a long unmade track running down from the lane, had experienced two incidents of fuel theft over one winter. The existing lighting covered the parking area directly in front of the house, but left the barn approach, the track junction and the rear of the outbuildings in darkness.

We surveyed the site on foot, identifying the three positions an approaching vehicle would slow or stop, and fitted Hikvision ColorVu cameras at each point to capture full colour footage in the dark, including number plates at the track entrance. The footage from the third attempt was good enough for Kent Police to identify the vehicle. The owners now receive a phone alert the moment anything moves on the track after 10pm.

Speldhurst, Tunbridge Wells
"Kris understood immediately that the problem was the outbuildings, not the house. He walked every inch of the site and explained his thinking before quoting. The cameras have already done their job once and the whole system is completely straightforward to use despite me not being technologically minded"

Have to say the service so far has been exemplary from Kris and ITD. We had an issue with our home alarm when we were out of the UK but Kris was fantastic at advising us on our system, even though he couldn’t access it. He has since been around and serviced the system and all is running smoothly. It’s very comforting to know that we are in the hands of a very capable firm going forwards.

What a great company. Kris had seen the issues we have faced multiple times and his advice and guidance was spot on. We were getting broken into at the back of the house in Rochester, due to access through a shared alley. Kris knew exactly what system we needed and has set this up so that anyone who ignores the cctv hears a verbal warning. It’s already worked and as this is automated we feel so much safer. The quality of the footage has already been complemented by local police officers. We highly recommend ITD Secure. Top Job.

Kris fitted our shop alarms and was extremely knowledgable, very helpful and nothing was too much trouble, he helped our staff with the mobile set ups and everything was a very smooth and easy process. We recently had an incident where we needed some images from the cameras and Kris had it sent over almost immediately! The whole fittting and after care service is absolutely fantastic, and would highly recommend thank you!

From our first contact with Kris Hill it was plain sailing. Initially contact was made to solve a problem related to our an old alarm system. Kris, promised to try and solve the issue - we were going away on a short break and, without his help, this would have left us unprotected. Within 24 hours Kris had established that our old system was obsolete and had completely installed a new one! All this on a Bank Holiday. Superb service!!

My company recently had Kris from ITD install our alarm and camera system at our commercial unit. I really cannot recommend him enough. From start to finish I was very impressed. From first contact the service provided and his attention to detail was superb. The new system was explained and he ensured our needs and requirements were met. I would most definitely recommend their services and wouldn’t hesitate to use them for future projects.

Great experience from start to finish. Kris was brilliant; really consultative, took the time to understand what I needed, and explained everything clearly. The system’s been spot on and having it in place has been a real reassurance. I feel much safer. What’s stood out most is the support after install. Kris is on hand if anything comes up. Couldn’t recommend him more!!! 🙌

The security picture across Tunbridge Wells and the Weald

Tunbridge Wells is a high-value commuter town with a direct fifty-minute train to London, and the security profile that comes with it. Large period properties on roads like Broadwater Down, Mount Ephraim and Calverley Park are visibly well-presented and routinely empty during the working day, a combination that makes them a target for organised residential burglary. The town also has a significant concentration of conservation areas and listed buildings where camera placement needs careful thought.

The risk pattern varies meaningfully by area:

  • Georgian and Victorian town centre, the Pantiles, Calverley Park. High-value period properties, often with shared access and narrow side returns. Many sit in conservation areas or are listed, where external fixings require care. The priority is covering the approach and side access without impacting the building’s historic character.
  • Commuter roads, Broadwater Down, Mount Ephraim, Hawkenbury. Large detached and semi-detached properties, long driveways and high property values. These roads see the same commuter-absence burglary pattern as the equivalent streets in Tonbridge, with organised groups sometimes working them systematically.
  • Rusthall and the Common edge. Victorian and Edwardian terraces and semis, with the Common providing an unmonitored route to the rear of many properties. Side access and rear garden boundaries are the weak points here.
  • High Weald villages, Speldhurst, Langton Green, Groombridge, Frant. Converted farmhouses, oast houses, Wealden cottages and country estates with outbuildings, long approach tracks and large grounds. Fuel, tools, vehicles and equipment in outbuildings are the common target. Coverage needs to reach the approach to each structure, not just the main house.
  • Southborough and High Brooms. A more varied housing mix including Victorian terraces, post-war semis and newer developments, with opportunist residential burglary and vehicle crime the most common issues.

Award Winning Systems

We fit Hikvision, the manufacturer named Security Manufacturer of the Year, chosen for build quality and low-light performance across every property type, from a Pantiles townhouse to a Frant country estate.

Footage that identifies, not just records

Hikvision ColorVu cameras hold full colour in near darkness. A number plate on an unmade track or a face at a field gate stays clearly readable, the kind of image Kent Police can actually use rather than file away.

Rural and Weald properties covered

Oast houses, converted barns, farmhouses and Wealden cottages in the High Weald villages need a different approach from a town centre semi. We work across both and the survey reflects that.

Period and listed buildings handled carefully

Tunbridge Wells has one of the highest concentrations of listed and conservation-area properties in Kent. We work to minimise the visual impact of fixings and cable runs, and flag anything that may need checking with the council before we start.

Live monitoring from your phone

Every system is configured for Hik-Connect remote viewing and motion alerts. For a Tunbridge Wells commuter or a Weald property left empty during the week, a real-time alert to your phone changes the dynamic entirely.

Kent based, surveying in person

No national booking line, no unknown engineer. Kris surveys and installs. For High Weald village properties especially, that personal knowledge of the site is not a luxury, it is how the system gets specified correctly.

Advice from someone who understands how break-ins happen

What makes our systems effective is that they are designed around the offender, not chosen from a catalogue. That perspective comes from genuine experience.

Kris, ITD Secure

Founder and Lead Installer

Almost any CCTV installer can talk you through how a system works. Kris can tell you how a burglar thinks. With over 30 years across the security and law enforcement industries, locally in Kent and nationally, he surveys a property the way an intruder reads it: the unlit approach, the blind side, the entry point that no one watches. A camera in the wrong place gives a false sense of security. A camera in the right place ends the matter.

Formal certification is not mandatory in security installation, so it is worth finding someone you can trust. Our track record is public: fully insured with public liability cover and a 5.0 star rating across our Google reviews from homes and businesses around Tunbridge Wells, with engineers who turn up, explain the plan before quoting and stand behind the work.

What does CCTV installation cost in Tunbridge Wells?

Every quote follows a free survey, because a Georgian townhouse near the Pantiles, a Speldhurst farmhouse with outbuildings and a Southborough semi require completely different systems. We give you a fixed written price before any work begins.

The variables that move the cost are:

  • Camera count. Set by entry points and blind spots identified at the survey, not a standard package number.
  • Camera type. Standard, 4K or Hikvision ColorVu for full colour in near darkness, chosen position by position.
  • Recording and storage. NVR size determines how many days of footage the system holds before overwriting.
  • Cable runs and property type. Period properties with thick walls, rural sites with outbuildings and long tracks, and listed buildings all require more time and care than a standard modern property.
  • Remote access setup. Hik-Connect, motion alert thresholds and user accounts are configured and tested before we finish.

How every CCTV installation works with us

  • Free survey. We walk the property, identify the genuine weak points and agree exactly what each camera needs to cover, including anything a period building or rural layout makes non-obvious.
  • System design. Camera count, positions, lens and low-light specification set for your property, with a fixed written quote.
  • Clean installation. Tidy cable runs and considered placement. On period and listed Tunbridge Wells properties we work carefully to minimise the visual impact of fixings and surface runs.
  • Configuration. Hik-Connect remote viewing, motion alerts, recording schedule and user accounts set up and tested with you before we leave.
  • Aftercare. We show you how to use it, leave plain written instructions, and remain available if anything needs adjusting.

FAQs

Yes, and it is one of the more common questions we get in Tunbridge Wells. The town has a high concentration of listed buildings and conservation areas, particularly around the Pantiles, Calverley Park and the older streets near the Common, where external fixings can require listed building consent or planning permission depending on where cameras are mounted and how visible they are. We flag this during the survey and work with you on positioning that gives effective coverage while respecting the building. On listed properties we also work to minimise cable runs and the visual impact of fixings.

Yes, and the Weald villages are some of the most technically interesting work we do. Speldhurst, Langton Green, Groombridge, Frant and Bidborough have a high proportion of converted farmhouses, oast houses, Wealden cottages and country estates where the security challenge is the outbuildings, the approach track and the field boundaries, not just the front door. These sites need a survey on foot that covers every structure, because a camera on the house wall rarely sees far enough to matter. We do that work properly.

The combination of high property values, excellent London commuter links and predictable daytime absence makes Tunbridge Wells an active area for residential burglary, particularly on the larger period roads like Broadwater Down and Mount Ephraim. The High Weald villages face a different pattern, with rural property, outbuildings and stored equipment targeted by people who have scouted the lanes. In both cases the risk is real but manageable, and a properly surveyed system that covers the actual approach rather than just the front door makes a significant difference to the outcome.

It depends entirely on the property. A Victorian terrace in Rusthall or Southborough typically needs three to four cameras covering the front, the side passage and the rear. A large detached property on Broadwater Down with a long driveway and a detached garage needs more, because the driveway approach and the garage blind side matter as much as the entrance. A Speldhurst or Langton Green farmhouse with outbuildings needs each structure considered independently. We work out the right number at the survey, based on what the property actually faces rather than a standard package count.
