CCTV Installation in Ashford

Looking for CCTV installation in Ashford?

Ashford is unlike any other town we cover in Kent. It sits at the junction of the M20, the Channel Tunnel rail corridor and the fastest domestic train service in the county, which makes it both a gateway and a growth town. The security needs reflect that: modern residential estates in the town, period farmhouses and timber-frame cottages in the surrounding villages, and commercial premises ranging from the Designer Outlet to industrial units along the M20 corridor. ITD Secure fits Hikvision CCTV systems across the borough, designing every installation around the specific property and what it actually faces. Fully insured with public liability cover, 5.0 rating from Google reviews.

Two completely different security briefs within five miles of each other

Ashford town itself is predominantly newer development, modern estates, and regenerated town-centre residential, built out rapidly since the arrival of High Speed 1 brought London to within 37 minutes. The security profile here is opportunist: vehicle crime on open driveways, doorstep burglary on newer estates where access between houses is less considered, and commercial premises dealing with the footfall and turnover that comes from being Kent’s primary retail and logistics hub.

Drive ten minutes in any direction and the picture changes entirely. The villages around Ashford, Tenterden, Wye, Charing, Bethersden, Mersham, Shadoxhurst and Woodchurch, carry some of the best period rural property in Kent. Timber-frame cottages, converted oast houses, working farms and country houses with extensive grounds and outbuildings, where the security challenge is fundamentally different: longer approach routes, agricultural equipment and fuel in outbuildings, and properties that can sit empty for days at a time.

We survey and install across both. A camera package that works on a Kennington new-build does not work on a Charing farmhouse, and our survey is where that difference gets resolved before the quote is written.

A real Ashford job

One of our recent installs, Charing.

A working farm outside Charing had lost a quad bike, a ride-on mower and a significant quantity of heating oil from a tank beside the barn over two separate incidents twelve months apart. In both cases the approach had been through a field gateway that was not visible from the farmhouse.

The owners had a single camera on the barn door that had captured nothing useful on either occasion. We walked the site from the lane in, identifying the three points where a vehicle moving at night would slow or stop, and fitted Hikvision ColorVu cameras at the gateway, at the corner of the barn where the oil tank sat, and on the approach track. Motion alerts went to the owner’s phone. A further attempt, six weeks after installation, triggered the alert at the gate and the farm lights came on remotely before the vehicle had reached the outbuildings.

James Chantler
Charing, Ashford
"We had been hit twice and had nothing useful on camera either time. Kris came out and immediately saw what we had missed. The cameras are in completely different positions to what we would have chosen and they have already done the job once."

Why Ashford properties need CCTV

Ashford’s position as a transport hub shapes its security risk in a specific way. The M20 and the Channel Tunnel corridor bring high volumes of through traffic, and Ashford’s commercial density means there is more to target than in quieter Kent towns. The Designer Outlet draws around three million visitors a year, and the industrial and logistics units along the motorway junctions operate around the clock, creating a commercial security environment that is more active than most of the county.

The risk breaks down clearly by area:

  • Town centre and modern residential estates, Kennington, Willesborough, Kingsnorth. Opportunist burglary and vehicle crime on driveways are the primary residential concern. Open-plan newer estates can leave side access and rear gardens less protected than the front, and that is often where the entry is made.
  • Commercial premises, Designer Outlet, Eureka Park, Junction 9 and 10 industrial zones. Out-of-hours break-ins, loading bay and yard security, vehicle and plant theft, and the specific considerations around public-facing retail including the ICO guidance on footage retention and signage. Number plate capture at the entrance is often the most valuable single camera on a commercial site.
  • Tenterden and the Weald villages. Tenterden is one of the most desirable market towns in Kent, with a high street of period buildings and surrounding rural property that regularly exceeds £450,000 on detached stock. Rural theft, outbuilding security and coverage of long approach lanes are the primary concerns here.
  • Wye, Charing, Mersham and the agricultural villages. Working farms, converted barns, oast houses and rural cottages where fuel, tools, machinery and livestock equipment are the targets. Properties here are often scouted during the day by people driving the lanes, which means the approach route is where the camera needs to be, not just the building.

Award Winning Systems

We fit Hikvision, the manufacturer named Security Manufacturer of the Year, chosen for build quality and low-light performance. The same kit protecting commercial sites works on a Mersham farmhouse or a Kennington new-build.

Full colour in the dark

Hikvision ColorVu cameras hold full colour footage in near darkness. A number plate on a field track at 2am or a face at a barn door stays clearly readable, the kind of image that gives Kent Police something to act on.

Kent based, surveying in person

No national booking line, no unknown engineer. Kris surveys and installs. For rural properties around the Weald villages, that personal knowledge of the site layout is not a luxury, it is how the system gets specified correctly.

Real-time alerts on your phone

Every system is configured for Hik-Connect remote viewing and motion alerts. For a rural Ashford property left empty during the week, or a commercial site with no overnight staff, an alert at the gate changes what is possible.

Commercial premises across the M20 corridor

We install on commercial sites across Ashford's business parks and industrial zones, covering out-of-hours access, loading bay security and yard camera coverage, configured for ICO compliance on footage retention.

Starting from the lane, not the door

On rural properties around Charing, Wye and Bethersden the approach from the road is where the information is. We walk the site from the entrance in, so the cameras sit where they catch the approach, not where they look tidy on the building.

Advice from someone who understands how break-ins happen

The reason our systems work is that they are designed around the offender, not the catalogue. That perspective comes from genuine experience.

Kris, ITD Secure

Founder and Lead Installer

Most CCTV installers can tell you how a system works. Kris can tell you how a burglar thinks. With over 30 years across the security and law enforcement industries, locally in Kent and nationally, he approaches every survey from the outside in. On a Charing farm that means walking the lane and the field boundary before looking at the buildings. On a Kennington estate it means finding the side access and the rear garden entry point that the front doorbell camera misses entirely. A camera that does not cover the actual approach is not doing the job, whatever the spec sheet says.

Formal certification is not mandatory in security installation, so it is worth checking what an installer can actually show you. Ours is on the table: over 30 years in the field, fully insured with public liability cover, and a 5.0 rating across genuine Google reviews from homes and businesses across Kent.

How much does CCTV installation cost in Ashford?

Every quote follows a free survey, because the right system for a Kennington new-build is not the same as the right system for a Charing farmhouse or a commercial unit on Eureka Park. We give you a fixed written price before any work begins, with no surprises.

The main variables are:

  • Camera count. Set by entry points and blind spots at the survey, not a fixed package number.
  • Camera type. Standard, 4K or Hikvision ColorVu for full colour in near darkness, chosen position by position.
  • Recording and storage. NVR size determines how many days of footage are retained before overwriting. Commercial premises may have specific ICO retention requirements.
  • Cable runs and site layout. Rural properties with outbuildings, long tracks and multiple structures require more cable, more time and more considered routing than a town-centre property.
  • Remote access setup. Hik-Connect configuration, motion alert thresholds and user accounts set up and tested before we leave.

How a CCTV installation works with us

  • Free survey. We approach the property from the outside and identify the genuine entry points and blind spots, including any that a camera on the building itself would not cover.
  • System design. Camera count, positions, lens and low-light specification set for the specific property, with a fixed written quote.
  • Clean installation. Tidy cable runs, weatherproof fittings and considered placement. On rural and period properties we work carefully to minimise the visual footprint.
  • Configuration. Hik-Connect remote viewing, motion alerts, recording schedule and ICO-compliant retention settings set up and tested with you before we leave.
  • Aftercare. We show you how to use the system, leave clear instructions, and are contactable if anything needs adjusting.

FAQs

Yes, and it represents a significant part of our Ashford area work. Working farms, converted barns, oast houses and rural cottages around Charing, Wye, Mersham, Bethersden and the Weald villages face a specific pattern of agricultural and equipment theft, often by people who have driven the lanes in daylight and identified what is stored and where. Our installations on these properties start from the approach route, not the building, because that is where the camera needs to be to give you enough time to respond. We survey every structure, not just the farmhouse.

Yes. We work on commercial premises across Ashford’s business parks and industrial zones, covering out-of-hours access points, loading bays, yards and perimeter gates. Commercial CCTV carries specific obligations under ICO guidance on footage retention, signage and access, and we configure every business system to meet those requirements from day one. For sites with vehicles or deliveries coming and going, number plate capture at the entrance or gate is often the most valuable single camera position we can advise on.

Tenterden is one of the most characterful market towns in Kent, with a high street of period and listed buildings where external fixings require thought and, in some cases, listed building consent or planning permission. We survey Tenterden properties with that in mind, advising on positioning and fixings that give effective coverage without impacting the building’s character or requiring unnecessary council involvement. The surrounding rural properties present a different question, with large plots, outbuildings and long approach lanes that need their own coverage approach entirely.

It depends entirely on the property type. A modern semi-detached in Kennington or Willesborough is typically well covered by three cameras: the front approach, the side passage and the rear garden. A detached rural property near Charing or Bethersden with a detached garage, outbuildings and a long driveway needs more cameras and different positions, because each structure and the approach to each one needs to be in frame. A commercial site on one of Ashford’s business parks needs to start from the perimeter and work inward. We establish the right number at the survey, based on what your specific property faces rather than a standard package.
